Costs of Care is collaborating with the ABIM Foundation on the BUILDING TRUST initiative to identify and promote exemplary practices that foster trust and trustworthiness related to costs of care, affordability, financial practices, and equity.
Polls reveal that Americans’ trust in the health care system is eroding and trust in health care institutions can no longer be assumed. Some of the known consequences of mistrust in health care are decreased adherence to care plans, poor coordination of care, disparities in health care, dissatisfaction of both the patient and the clinician, missed opportunities for needed collaboration, and damage to organizational reputation.
The ABIM Foundation and Costs of Care believe trust is a powerful force that can be rebuilt, reinforced, and leveraged to improve healthcare in America.
Our goal is to learn about and highlight ways that individuals, groups, organizations and institutions are nurturing trust, either nationally or within their communities and health systems. If you are involved in a practice that you believe builds trust related to costs of care, affordability, financial practices, and/or equity, we would love to hear from you.
